Find Beaufort County Mugshots and Recent Booking Records
For Beaufort County, South Carolina, start with the county’s official Inmate Inquiry System. It provides the current jail population plus recent booking and release lists, and may display a booking photograph with charges and other custody information when a photo is available.
Start With the Official Beaufort County Inmate Search
The detention center’s search is the most direct place to check a recent Beaufort County booking. The system separates current inmates from recent bookings and releases, which helps avoid mistaking an older record for current custody.
Government systems can change URLs or temporarily go offline. If the inmate inquiry page does not load, open the Beaufort County Detention Center page and select “Inmate Inquiry System.”
How to Search Beaufort County Mugshots
You do not need to begin with a commercial mugshot website. Beaufort County Government maintains the official inmate inquiry route for people held at the county detention center and for recent booking and release information.
Which Beaufort County Booking List Should You Use?
| Official list | Best use | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Current inmate population | Checking whether a person appears in the detention center’s current population. | That the person will remain in custody later the same day. |
| Booked within 72 hours | Finding very recent bookings. | That the person is still incarcerated. |
| Booked within 90 days | Looking farther back than the recent 72-hour window. | Current custody or final case disposition. |
| Released within 15 days | Checking recent releases from the county detention center. | Why release occurred or how the criminal case ended. |
What a Beaufort County Mugshot Search Can Show
The county describes its inmate inquiry system as including booking information, charges and a photograph when one is available. The record should be treated as a jail record, not as a substitute for the court docket.
Booking photo
A photograph may appear when one is available in the detention center’s public system. A missing photograph does not by itself mean that no booking occurred.
Charges
Charge information describes allegations associated with the booking. Charges can later be amended, dismissed or resolved differently in court.
Custody status
A current inmate listing is useful for present custody checks, while recent booking lists may also contain people who have since been released.
How to Check What Happened After a Beaufort County Arrest
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office directs people to the Beaufort County Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Public Index for case status. The index can be searched by name or case number and is the better route for following the court side of an arrest.
Use the Beaufort County Inmate Inquiry System for current inmates, recent bookings, releases, charges and available booking photos.
Use the Beaufort County Public Index to follow the court record after arrest.
General Sessions cases are handled through the Fourteenth Circuit system. The Sheriff’s Office lists the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office at 843-779-8477.
Jail and court databases answer different questions. A person can disappear from the current jail population because of release or transfer while the criminal case remains open.
Current Custody, Recent Booking and Release Are Different
If you need to know whether someone is in jail now
Check the current inmate population first. For a time-sensitive question that cannot be resolved online, contact the Beaufort County Detention Center directly.
If you found an old booking
Do not assume the person remains incarcerated. Check the current population, recent release information and then the court record if you need the case status.
Beaufort County Warrant Questions
An inmate search is not the same as a warrant search. A person can have an active warrant without appearing in the current detention-center population.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office directs warrant-status questions to its Warrants Clerk at 843-255-3266 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For after-hours non-emergency assistance, the Sheriff’s Office lists 843-524-2777.
