Louisville Mugshots, Current Bookings and the Official Record to Check Next
For a recent Louisville arrest, start with Louisville Metro Department of Corrections (LMDC). Its inmate tools are the local route for current custody and booking information; court records, VINE and Kentucky Department of Corrections resources answer different questions after the booking stage.
Arrest does not mean conviction. A booking entry, listed charge or arrest photo documents an arrest or custody event. Charges, bond, custody status and the eventual court outcome can change, so confirm the correct person and use the court record when the final case result matters.
Start With the Official Louisville Corrections Route
If you are trying to find a current Louisville mugshot, inmate record or recent booking, use LMDC before relying on reposted arrest pages. The department provides a dedicated inmate-search route and a broader inmate-information page for custody, accounts, calls, visits, mail and VINE.
How to Search Louisville Mugshots and Current Booking Records
The most useful search is not simply “find a photo.” You want to establish whether the record belongs to the correct person, whether the person is currently held, what booking-stage charges or bond information appears, and which official system should be checked next.
If the online search is unclear: LMDC lists its general inmate-information number as 502-574-8477. Have the person’s exact name and any known booking or identifying details ready before calling.
Do Not Use One Website for Every Louisville Arrest-Record Question
Louisville mugshots, jail custody, court files and state correctional records are related, but they are not the same record. Using the agency that owns the information reduces stale results and unnecessary searching.
| Need | Official route | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Current Louisville booking | Louisville Metro Corrections | Current inmate and booking-stage information |
| Arrest or booking photograph | LMDC public inmate / arrest-record system | Booking photo when the current public record makes one available |
| Charge or court outcome | Jefferson County court clerk / Kentucky Court of Justice | Case records, hearings, orders and later disposition |
| Release or transfer notification | Kentucky VINE | Automated custody-status alerts |
| State corrections custody | Kentucky Offender Online Lookup | DOC offender records after a person enters state corrections |
| Bond payment | Jefferson County Hall of Justice / LMDC bond guidance | Eligibility, accepted payment methods and bond questions |
How to Verify a Louisville Mugshot Before You Rely on It
A photograph can make a record feel certain even when the identity match is weak. Before you associate a Louisville booking with a person, verify several fields instead of relying on the photo or name alone.
Name match
Check the complete legal name, including middle name or initial when available. Similar names are not enough to establish identity.
Booking context
Compare the booking date, inmate identifier, age or birth information and the jurisdiction shown on the live record.
Current status
A saved screenshot may outlive the jail stay. Recheck LMDC or VINE when current custody is the real question.
Avoid misidentification: do not publish, share or make an important decision from a same-name match alone. If the identifiers conflict, treat the match as unconfirmed.
Why a mugshot is not the final legal record
A booking image is created during jail intake. It does not establish whether the person was convicted, whether a charge was amended or dismissed, what plea was entered, or how the case ultimately ended. For those questions, move from the jail record to the Jefferson County court record.
Charges and Bond: What to Do After You Find the Booking
Charge descriptions on a jail record are useful for locating the correct booking, but they should not be treated as the final case result. Bond information can also change after a hearing, so use the current court and LMDC information when release timing matters.
Where Louisville bond is posted
LMDC states that in-person inmate bond payments can be posted 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the Hall of Justice, 600 W. Jefferson Street, Louisville, KY 40202.
What the person posting bond needs
The official guidance requires the person posting in person to be at least 18 and provide valid government-issued photo identification. Accepted methods listed by LMDC include cash, certified check and certain debit or credit cards.
Self-bond funding has separate rules
LMDC also describes an online or kiosk option for an inmate who qualifies for self-bond. The official page says eligibility is limited: the inmate must be a Kentucky resident with a valid address in the system, the matter must be a District Court case, and DUI, domestic-violence cases and inmates with an LMDC booking-fee balance are excluded. Fees apply to that option.
Do not send money assuming it will automatically release someone. Confirm the bond type, court, eligibility and current amount first. LMDC directs bond questions to the District Court Clerk at 502-595-4428 or 502-595-3060.
After the Louisville Booking: Check Jefferson County Court Records
Jail information answers the custody question; the court record answers what happened in the criminal case. Kentucky Court of Justice states that court case-record requests begin with the clerk of the court that heard the matter, not with the statewide Administrative Office of the Courts.

District Court and Office of Circuit Court Clerk functions are located here.

Clerk and court-service hours vary by division. Kentucky Court of Justice advises users to call the specific office or check the Jefferson County clerk information for the most current hours before traveling.
If the Person Is Released or Transferred, Use VINE or Kentucky DOC
A person can disappear from a local-jail search because custody changed. That does not by itself explain whether the person was released, transferred or entered a different correctional system.
Recheck Louisville Metro Corrections first when the arrest or booking is recent.
Use Kentucky VINE to check custody status and register for automated notifications where available.
Use Kentucky Offender Online Lookup (KOOL) when the person may now be in Department of Corrections custody or supervision.
Kentucky VINE
VINE is Kentucky’s automated custody-notification system. The Department of Corrections says it uses information from jail booking systems, prisons and other facilities and can notify registered users when specified custody changes occur.
Safety note: a notification service should not be the only part of a personal safety plan. If there is an immediate threat or emergency, contact emergency services.
Kentucky Offender Online Lookup
KOOL is the Kentucky Department of Corrections offender lookup. Kentucky DOC warns that information newer than 120 days may not yet be finalized, so interpret recent records with that limitation in mind.
Louisville Metro Corrections Visits and Inmate Calls
LMDC operates more than one campus, so visitation instructions can depend on where the person is housed and on the person’s classification or status. Confirm the current location before making a trip.
Visits
LMDC directs visitors to its current visit information because the time and location can vary by housing and classification.
Telephone calls
LMDC currently states that individuals in its custody receive two free 15-minute phone calls per day. Incoming inmate calls and messages are not accepted.
For an emergency involving an inmate, LMDC’s visit guidance directs users to Classification at 502-574-2120.
Sending Money or Mail After You Confirm the Correct Inmate
Do not send funds or mail from a name-only search. Confirm the person and save the inmate’s current identifier first, because LMDC uses identifying information to route deposits and correspondence.
Adding money to an inmate account
LMDC says the inmate’s name and CIN are required for account deposits. The department currently lists online payment and physical kiosks among the available methods.
Main jail kiosk
400 S. Sixth Street
Louisville, KY 40202
LMDC says the kiosk operates 24/7. The main-jail kiosk accepts cash as well as supported card payments.
Hall of Justice kiosks
600 W. Jefferson Street
Louisville, KY 40202
LMDC lists kiosks in the first-floor and basement lobbies. Cash is not listed for these Hall of Justice kiosks.
Verify current inmate-account payment options
Current regular inmate postal-mail route
PO Box 9180
Seminole, FL 33775-9174
Use the live LMDC inmate-information page immediately before mailing in case the processing address changes.
LMDC states that regular postal mail such as letters, postcards and greeting cards is processed off site and delivered electronically through secure inmate kiosks or tablets. The inmate’s name and booking/ID number must be clearly shown on the outside of the envelope or postcard.
Do not reuse an old saved mailing address. Mail-processing vendors and ZIP+4 details can change. Confirm the current live LMDC instructions before sending anything.
Louisville Metro Corrections Locations
The main jail is not the only corrections location listed by Louisville Metro. Confirm the person’s housing and the purpose of your visit before assuming every task belongs at the same building.

Louisville Mugshot Search Troubleshooting
Recheck the spelling and whether the person is actually in LMDC custody. Very recent bookings, releases, transfers and name variations can affect what you see. If necessary, call inmate information.
A public record may not always expose every booking image in every context. Use the underlying inmate record and identifiers rather than assuming that no photograph means no booking.
Stop and compare identifiers. Do not choose a person based only on a photograph, first/last name or approximate age.
Check VINE for custody-status information and KOOL if the person may have moved into Kentucky Department of Corrections custody.
Leave the jail search and contact the Jefferson County court clerk. The booking system is not the final source for dismissal, plea, conviction or sentence information.
Use the current court or clerk information before paying. A bond can change after a hearing or court order.
Before You Rely on a Louisville Arrest Record
- Confirm the person with more than one identifier.
- Check the live LMDC record instead of relying on an old screenshot.
- Treat charges as allegations unless the court record shows an adjudicated outcome.
- Use Jefferson County court records for later case activity.
- Recheck bond before sending or carrying money.
- Confirm custody before traveling to a corrections location.
- Verify current mail and visitation instructions immediately before using them.
- Use VINE or KOOL when custody has moved beyond the local jail.
