Find Lubbock County Jail Bookings and Arrest Records
For a current Lubbock arrest or jail booking, start with the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office Active Jail Search. The official roster lets you look for a person by name, booking number or Sheriff’s Office (SO) number and is the best starting point for confirming whether someone is presently listed in county custody.
A roster entry may provide booking-related details, but a booking record or photograph is not a finding of guilt. Charges can change, cases can be dismissed, and people can be released while a criminal case continues, so use court records when you need the later case outcome.
Search the official active jail roster
The Sheriff’s Office directs the public to its county-operated Active Jail Search for people currently listed in the Lubbock County jail system.
How to Search Lubbock Arrests and Current Jail Bookings
The official Lubbock County active jail roster is designed for current jail lookup. If you are searching immediately after an arrest, remember that booking, identification, fingerprinting and initial processing may occur before a new record becomes useful in the public search.
Where Lubbock Mugshots and Booking Photos May Appear
People commonly use the word “mugshot” for a photograph taken during jail booking. The official Lubbock roster is the appropriate place to begin a current custody search, but the information and images displayed for a particular person can depend on the record available through the county system.
If a booking photo is displayed with an official record, use it as one part of the identity check—not as proof that the allegation is true. An arrest photograph documents a booking event. It does not show that the person was convicted, and it does not tell you how the criminal case eventually ended.
Custody event
Shows that a person was processed into the jail system and may provide identifiers, booking data and charges.
Identification image
A photo connected to booking can help distinguish records, but appearance alone should never be your only identity test.
Case history
Court records are the route to filings, hearings, pleas, dismissals, judgments and other later case developments when public.
What Lubbock Jail Records Can—and Cannot—Tell You
| Task | Best source | Useful detail |
|---|---|---|
| Is the person currently listed in jail? | Lubbock County Sheriff active jail roster | Search by name, booking number or SO number. |
| What bond has been set? | Official jail roster / detention center | The Sheriff says bond settings are updated on the roster after they are set. |
| What happened after the arrest? | Appropriate Lubbock County court record | Follow the criminal case rather than relying on the original booking record. |
| How do I request a jail card? | Detention Center Records Department | Your own jail card can be obtained through Records; another person’s may require an open-records request. |
Charges are not the same as convictions
A charge shown at booking describes the allegation associated with the arrest or custody event. The charge may later be amended, dismissed or resolved in another way. For a final outcome, follow the case through the court that has jurisdiction.
Current roster status is not permanent history
The Sheriff describes its tool as an active jail roster. A person who no longer appears may have been released, transferred or otherwise removed from active county custody. Absence from an active roster does not by itself explain what happened to the underlying case.
Bond and Initial Appearance in Lubbock County
The Sheriff’s inmate FAQ states that a person can typically bond out after seeing a magistrate. Initial Appearance is conducted at least twice daily and sometimes more often, and the jail roster is updated with bond information once bond has been set.
The person may still be awaiting magistrate review or the public roster may not yet reflect the new setting. Recheck the official record rather than assuming there is no bond.
The Sheriff says bond may be posted in full through the Detention Center’s Bond Window when applicable.
A local surety company may be used. The Sheriff notes that surety companies charge a percentage and may impose their own requirements.
Lubbock County Jail Visitation
The Sheriff lists visitation hours from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with the last visit scheduled to begin no later than 9:30 p.m.. Scheduling and housing restrictions can affect the visit, so confirm the current instructions before traveling to the facility.
How scheduling works
On-site visit limits
The official instructions allow one on-site visit per person, per inmate, daily.
Children and adult visitors
The Sheriff states that one adult visitor is allowed per visit and up to two children may accompany that adult if they remain adequately controlled.
What visitors should not bring into the visitation room
- Food, gum, candy or drinks
- Cell phones
- Purses, backpacks or other bags
- Pens or pencils
Items must be secured in the available lockers. The Sheriff’s current instructions say the lockers require a solid quarter, which is returned when the key is returned.
How to Add Money for a Lubbock County Inmate
The Detention Center separates general inmate-account funding from phone-only funding. Choose the correct route because money placed through a phone provider may not be usable for commissary or tablet purposes.
General inmate account
Cash may be deposited through the kiosk in the main Detention Center lobby. The Sheriff also lists a downtown Sheriff’s property-room kiosk.
Card deposits can be made through Access Corrections or by calling 1-866-345-1884. The Sheriff lists facility number 20172.
ICSolutions account
The Sheriff directs phone-only card funding to ICSolutions or 1-888-506-8407.
Funds sent through this route are for the inmate’s phone account and cannot be used for other inmate-account purposes.
Mail and Messages for Lubbock County Inmates
The Detention Center uses Smart Communications MailGuard for ordinary inmate postal mail and electronic messaging. Regular mail and legal mail use different addresses, so do not send both to the same destination.
MailGuard address
Lubbock County Detention CenterInmate’s Name and SO#
PO Box 9136
Seminole, FL 33775
The inmate’s name and SO number should be clearly printed on the envelope or postcard.

PO Box 10535
Lubbock, TX 79408
The Sheriff lists legal mail, court documents, bank statements and publications for this direct address and requires a return address.
Electronic messages
Messages can be sent through SmartInmate. The Sheriff notes that messaging has a cost and that inmates receive messages through the tablet system.
Picking Up Property for a Current Inmate
For a person currently held at the Lubbock County Detention Center, the Sheriff directs property pickup requests to the facility’s Bond Window. The person collecting the property completes a form and must present valid photo identification.
The inmate is shown a copy of the presented ID and must authorize the release. The Sheriff says property in the inmate’s valuable-property bag is typically handled on an all-or-nothing basis, with a stated exception for inmates convicted to serve time in TDCJ who may release all property.
- Go to the Detention Center Bond Window.
- Bring valid photo identification.
- Complete the property-release form.
- Wait for the inmate to authorize release.
- Do not assume individual items can be selected from the property bag.
How to Follow a Lubbock Arrest Into Court Records
The jail roster answers a custody question; it is not a complete criminal-case history. Once you have the correct person and booking identifiers, use Lubbock County court resources to check the case that followed the arrest.
Lubbock County maintains an electronic court-case-record access framework for public case information while excluding records and sensitive information that cannot lawfully be provided remotely. This means a missing document online does not automatically mean that no court record exists.
Use the Sheriff’s Active Jail Search.
Check the jail roster after magistrate review or contact the Detention Center when clarification is needed.
Use the appropriate court record. Do not infer dismissal, conviction or innocence from the jail roster alone.
Contact the Detention Center Records Department. Requests involving another person may require an open-records request.
If You Cannot Find the Person in the Lubbock Jail Search
The arrest was very recent
Allow for booking and data processing, then check the official roster again. Do not use a commercial database as proof that county booking is complete.
The spelling may be different
Try the legal name and verify any matching result with identifiers. A nickname or incomplete name can produce a poor match.
The person was released
An active roster is designed around current jail status. Follow the associated court case when you need information after release.
You need direct confirmation
The Sheriff lists Detention Center phone numbers 806-775-7009 and 806-775-7048. The inmate FAQ also lists LSODetention@Lubbockcounty.gov.
