Dallas County Jail Mugshots, Arrests and Booking Records
The quickest way to check a current Dallas County jail booking is the official Dallas County Jail Lookup. It can help you determine whether a person is presently in county custody and obtain the booking information available through the county system.
For booking photos, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office guidance directs users to the Jail Lookup when the person is still in custody. If the person has already left Dallas County custody, the Sheriff’s Public Information Officer provides a separate request route for locating an older booking photo.
Search Dallas County jail records
Use the county Jail Lookup first if your goal is to confirm current custody, identify a booking or look for a booking photo connected to a current inmate.
How to Search Current Dallas County Jail Bookings
The Dallas County Jail Lookup is the first place to check when you need to know whether a person is currently in county jail. Use the identifying information requested by the official search form and compare the returned record carefully before assuming you have the correct person.
Where to Find Dallas County Booking Photos
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer specifically states that a booking photo for a person who is still in Dallas County jail can be accessed through the Jail Lookup. That makes the official jail search the best starting point for a current Dallas County mugshot.
Person is still in custody
Use the official Dallas County Jail Lookup. Review the record carefully and confirm the booking belongs to the person you are researching.
Person is no longer in custody
The Sheriff’s Public Information Officer page instructs requesters seeking an older booking photo to provide identifying details such as the person’s name, date of birth and charges to help narrow the search.
What a Dallas County Booking Record Can—and Cannot—Tell You
A jail booking record is primarily a custody record. It may help identify an arrest, booking event, custody status and associated charges, but it should not be treated as the final history of the criminal case.
| Task | Official route | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Check current custody | Dallas County Jail Lookup | Current inmate and booking information |
| Locate current booking photo | Jail Lookup | Current-custody booking-photo search |

Check Dallas County Criminal Court Records
For case status, filings and disposition information, move from the jail record to the Dallas County court system. Dallas County says its online criminal court resources include cases filed in county criminal and felony courts, while the District Clerk serves as custodian for felony court records.
Use the Dallas County District Clerk Criminal Records page. Dallas County states that online case information reaches back to 1975 and that documents for most felony cases filed after 2009 are available online, subject to confidentiality restrictions.
Use the Dallas County Online Record Search for felony and misdemeanor case information and documents where available.
Online viewing and certified record requests are different services. The District Clerk provides counter and request options for records that are unavailable online or need certification, and fees can apply to copies or services.
The District Clerk felony records desk is listed at the Frank Crowley Courts Building, 133 N. Riverfront Blvd., Dallas, TX 75202, second floor. The official criminal-record page lists public desk hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and a records telephone number of 214-653-5950.
Dallas County Warrant Search
A warrant search is not the same as an inmate search. Someone can have an active warrant without being booked into Dallas County jail, and a person shown in jail may have multiple matters requiring separate verification.
Online Dallas County Wanted Search
The county provides a Dallas County Wanted Search with search routes including name and case number.
Sheriff warrant information line
Dallas County Sheriff’s Office lists 214-761-9026 for warrant information. Use the official phone route when an online result needs clarification.
Dallas County Jail and Detention Centers
The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department identifies four active detention facilities in its jail system. The North Tower, West Tower and Suzanne Lee Kays Detention Facility are part of the Lew Sterrett Justice Center complex at 111 West Commerce Street in Dallas.
Lew Sterrett Justice Center
111 West Commerce Street
Dallas, TX 75202
This is the main jail complex identified by Dallas County.
North & West Towers
Both facilities are listed at 111 West Commerce Street and operate within the Lew Sterrett jail complex.
Suzanne Lee Kays
Also known as the South Tower, this detention facility is located at the same Lew Sterrett complex.
Dallas County’s detention-center page also lists former jail facilities separately. A historical facility name appearing in an older record should not automatically be treated as the person’s current housing location.
Bond, Release and Pretrial Questions
Bond information can change as courts act on a case. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office advises family or friends seeking jail and bond information to contact Jail Information at 214-761-9025.
Bond status
Use the current jail record and court record together. A bond amount shown at one point in the process may later be modified, satisfied, revoked or replaced by another court order.
Pretrial release
Dallas County’s inmate handbook states that people booked into the jail system are screened by Pretrial Release personnel for possible release on a personal bond.
Dallas County Jail Services
Once you have verified the correct inmate and booking number, Dallas County provides separate official routes for visitation, money, mail, telephone services and property. Using the booking number reduces mistakes when two inmates have similar names.
Dallas County offers video visitation with advance scheduling requirements and published on-site hours.
Deposits require the inmate’s name and booking number. Dallas County lists kiosk, walk-in, online and telephone options.
Mail has specific addressing and content rules. Verify the current mailing instructions before sending anything.
Property-release procedures depend on whether the inmate has been processed and assigned a housing location.

- Video visits last 20 minutes.
- On-site visits are limited to two video visits per week.
- Dallas County states that off-site video visits are not limited by a weekly number.
- On-site video visitation is available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- The published on-site window is 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Check current Dallas County video-visitation rules before making plans because jail procedures can change.
Inmate Money and Mail
Depositing inmate money
Dallas County says you need the inmate’s name and booking number to make a trust-fund deposit.
- Cash kiosk at each jail
- Participating CashPayToday walk-in locations
- Access Corrections online
- Telephone deposit at 1-866-345-1884
The county currently lists fees beginning at $5 for its named walk-in option, as low as $2.95 online and as low as $3.95 by phone. Confirm the amount at the time of payment because vendor fees can change.
Sending inmate mail
Dallas County currently instructs senders to address regular inmate mail using the inmate’s name and book-in number and route it through its mail-processing center:
Inmate Name + Book-in Number
c/o Mail Processing Center
PO Box 9226
Seminole, FL 33775-9226
Include the sender’s full name and return address. Dallas County states that mail is not forwarded after an inmate is released.
Inmate Property Pickup
Dallas County states that property-release forms are processed for incoming inmates. If an inmate already has a housing location, the person requesting the property release may need to obtain the inmate’s signature through the appropriate jail process and return the completed form to the Lew Sterrett Justice Center control center.
Once the inmate has been processed through the vault, Dallas County says a property release generally must cover all property; individual items are not released separately under that process. Clothing and other property may also require separate forms.
Dallas County Jail Search Troubleshooting
The person may not be in Dallas County custody, may already have been released, or the identifying information may not match the booking record. Recheck spelling and then verify with Jail Information at 214-761-9025.
Do not assume the arrest never happened. For a person no longer in custody, use the Sheriff’s Public Information Officer guidance for locating an older booking photo.
Use the court-record portal to determine what happened after the arrest. A historical booking page alone does not establish the current case outcome.
Compare date of birth, booking number, case number and other available identifiers. Never identify a person from a name alone.
Verify the information against the responsible Dallas County agency. For an issue on this independent website, use our correction process rather than assuming the county record itself changed.
