Brunswick County Mugshots, Jail Bookings & Arrest Records
For current Brunswick County mugshots and jail booking information, start with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office inmate search. It is the county’s official public route for selected information about people held at the Brunswick County Detention Center in Bolivia, North Carolina.
Use the booking record as a starting point, then verify charges, court dates and case outcomes through the North Carolina Judicial Branch. A booking photo or arrest entry shows that a person was processed into custody; it does not establish guilt or show the final result of a criminal case.
Start With the Brunswick County Inmate Search
The county inmate-search page is the best first stop when you need to check whether someone is currently housed at the Brunswick County Detention Center or appeared in the recent-release window.
Where to Find Brunswick County Mugshots
The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office inmate-search system is the primary county source for publicly available detention information. Because detention records can change quickly and some offenders may be excluded from the public website, treat the online result as a current snapshot rather than a permanent criminal-history record.
Current inmate or recent booking
Search the Sheriff’s Office inmate system first. Compare the displayed name and other identifying details before assuming the record belongs to the person you are looking for.
Older booking or release
The released-inmate search covers only the prior 24 hours. For an older matter, use North Carolina court records or request the relevant detention or incident record from the Sheriff’s Office.
How to Search Brunswick County Jail Bookings
Charges, Booking Information and Court Case Status
A jail booking record and a court case answer different questions. The detention record helps establish custody and booking information, while the North Carolina court system is the better source for court dates, filings and case status.
Use: Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office inmate search.
Best for: current custody, recent release and available booking information.
Use: North Carolina Judicial Branch Portal or the Clerk of Superior Court.
Best for: court dates, criminal case information and later case activity.
Use: the Clerk of Superior Court office in the county where the case is filed.
Best for: accessing court files or obtaining copies when online information is insufficient.
Bond and Release Information
The Brunswick County Detention Center lists three general methods for posting bond: using a bail bondsman, posting cash, or posting a property bond. The Sheriff’s Office also notes that a property bond above $4,999 requires an attorney to prepare a Deed of Trust.
Bail bondsman
The county describes hiring a bondsman as one route and states that the bondsman’s fee is typically 15% of the total bond amount. Confirm the actual fee and conditions before agreeing to a transaction.
Cash bond
A cash bond may be available when permitted by the court’s bond conditions. Call the Detention Center if you need to confirm current requirements.
Property bond
Property may be used in qualifying cases. The Sheriff’s Office says bonds above $4,999 require an attorney to prepare the Deed of Trust.
Visitation, Phone Calls and Mail
Video visitation
The Detention Center currently describes inmate social visits as non-contact video visits. Remote visits are offered through Securus and should be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
The Sheriff’s Office lists remote visit pricing of $6.95 for 20 minutes or $14.95 for 40 minutes. Because vendor fees can change, verify the amount shown during scheduling before paying.
Telephone calls
General-population inmates have access to outgoing telephone service. The Sheriff’s Office says inmates cannot receive ordinary incoming calls and that calls are limited to 15 minutes.
For an emergency involving an inmate, the Detention Center directs callers to (910) 253-2760.
Mail rules
Incoming inmate correspondence must show the sender’s full name and address and must be addressed to the inmate using the full name under which the person was booked. The Sheriff’s Office states that ordinary correspondence is scanned and distributed electronically, while properly marked legal mail is handled separately.
- Write the inmate’s full booked name.
- Include the sender’s complete name and return address.
- Use ink rather than pencil.
- Do not send cash, checks or money orders in inmate mail.
- Do not include staples, paper clips, stickers, glitter, perfume or other prohibited materials.
- Check the current Sheriff’s Office mail rules before sending photographs or cards.
Commissary and Inmate Money
The Brunswick County Detention Center uses McDaniel Supply Company for commissary services. Friends and family can make deposits through the lobby kiosk or the vendor’s online system.
Lobby kiosk
The Sheriff’s Office currently lists kiosk access Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays. It accepts cash, credit cards and debit cards.
The published kiosk service fee is $3 per deposit. Verify the fee before completing the transaction because vendor charges can change.
Online deposits
Online credit-card deposits can be made through the commissary vendor. The depositor can search using the inmate’s name or inmate account number.
Internet deposit fees depend on the amount being deposited, so review the vendor’s current fee before submitting payment.
The Sheriff’s Office states that general-population commissary orders are processed weekly on Thursday evenings and delivered the following Tuesday morning. Funds must be available before processing.
How to Request Older Brunswick County Arrest or Detention Records
If the inmate-search page no longer shows the record you need, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office provides a public records request form. Request types listed by the agency include detention records and incident reports.
| Need | Best source | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Current inmate or recent release | BCSO Inmate Search | Current detention data and released-inmate search limited to 24 hours. |
| Older detention or incident record | BCSO Record Request | The agency lists a target completion window of 10 business days for public-record requests. |
| Criminal court case | NC Judicial Branch | Online Portal, clerk terminals and county court files. |
| Current bond stipulations | BCSO Detention Center | Check the inmate record or call (910) 253-2760. |
The Sheriff’s Office says it aims to fulfill record requests within 10 business days, but information may be withheld where disclosure could jeopardize victim safety, affect an active investigation or where North Carolina law otherwise restricts release.
Brunswick County Warrants
The Sheriff’s Office Civil and Warrant Division is responsible for serving and executing legal process generated by the court system, including criminal, fugitive and governor’s warrants.
Do not assume that a jail-booking search is a complete warrant search. A person may have a court matter without currently being housed in the Brunswick County Detention Center.
