Find Butler County jail mugshots and current booking information
The official Butler County Sheriff’s Office route for checking who is currently in county custody is the Butler County jail roster. Start there for a current inmate search, then use the court or records route if you need a criminal case, incident report, older arrest information, or a record that no longer appears in the active jail list.
Best place to start
Use the Sheriff’s official inmate-information page or the Butler County page of the Miami Valley Jails system. The Sheriff identifies that roster as the online list of people currently held in Butler County jail facilities.
The roster is a current-custody tool. Someone who was released, transferred, sent to state prison or booked by another agency may require a different search route.
How to search Butler County jail mugshots and bookings
The official roster is designed for people currently in custody. Search with the person’s legal name and use additional identifying details only when they are available from a reliable source.
What the Butler County jail roster can and cannot tell you
Use it for current custody
- Checking whether a person is currently listed in Butler County custody
- Finding a booking-related entry for a named person
- Obtaining identifiers that may help with a court search
- Confirming which county jail system currently lists the person
Do not treat it as a complete history
- A person may disappear from the active list after release or transfer
- A jail record does not establish the final court disposition
- An arrest entry is not proof of conviction
- An older mugshot may require a public-record request instead of a live roster search
If a Butler County mugshot or booking record is missing
A missing name does not by itself prove that no arrest occurred. The person may have been released, transferred, booked under a different spelling, held by another agency, or moved into the state prison system.
Call Butler County Jail / Corrections at 513-785-1345 and ask for current inmate information. The Sheriff also lists Booking at 513-785-1100.
Use the Sheriff’s public-record and incident-report request page. The Central Records Unit is listed at 513-785-1030.
Search the appropriate Butler County court rather than relying on the active jail roster. Court records can remain relevant after the person leaves county custody.
Use the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Offender Search for people in the state correctional system.

Check the court record after finding a booking
Jail information and court information serve different purposes. A booking record shows custody activity, while a court docket may show filed charges, hearings, orders and later case events.
Butler County Area Courts
The official Area Courts record-search system can be used for cases within its jurisdiction. The court warns that electronic data may lag behind filings or judicial action, so verified records may require direct court confirmation.
Butler County Common Pleas Court
More serious criminal cases may proceed in the Butler County Court of Common Pleas. Use the court and clerk resources tied to the case number shown in official records.
Visitation, inmate funds and jail services
The Sheriff publishes separate jail-service rules for visitation and inmate accounts. These rules can change, so use the official jail-services page before visiting or sending money.
Visitation
Visitors must be approved according to the jail’s visitation rules and must present acceptable photo identification. Visit schedules are organized by inmate name and facility rules.
Inmate funds
The Sheriff lists Access Corrections and the main-jail lobby kiosk as deposit options. Verify the inmate identity before sending money.
Account questions
The Sheriff lists Inmate Accounts at 513-785-1126, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

If the person is no longer in Butler County Jail
County jail and Ohio state prison records are separate systems. A person sentenced to state custody may no longer appear in the Butler County current-inmate roster even though an Ohio corrections record remains available.
Ohio prison or supervision search
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction Offender Search covers people currently incarcerated in Ohio prisons, under department supervision, judicially released, and certain other department statuses.
Victim custody notifications
The Ohio Attorney General points victims and concerned users to VINE for custody-status notifications. Do not rely on a single notification system as a personal-safety plan.
Common Butler County inmate-search problems
The Miami Valley Jails site may require a human-verification step before individual custody records are displayed. Complete the on-screen verification in a normal browser rather than relying on automated scraping.
Try a broader spelling and then call the jail. The absence of a result can reflect release, transfer, another agency or a name mismatch.
Move from the jail roster to the correct court docket. The booking entry is not the final disposition.
Use the Sheriff’s records-request route. For a report written by another police department, contact that department directly.
