McLennan County Mugshots, Recent Arrests & Booking Records
For current McLennan County arrest information, start with the Sheriff’s Office inmate listing or the county’s official mugshot search. The inmate list is published by McLennan County and is identified by the Sheriff’s Office as being updated once each hour.
The two tools answer slightly different questions. The inmate listing is the better starting point when you need to know whether someone is currently in county custody, while the online mugshot system is the county route for booking-photo searches.
Start with the county, not a reposted mugshot page
If you are checking a recent arrest, use the current inmate listing first. If you specifically need the booking photograph, move to the Sheriff’s Office mugshot database. For a court disposition or later case status, use the appropriate clerk’s court-search system.
How to Search McLennan County Mugshots and Recent Arrests
The Sheriff’s Office currently provides both a current inmate listing and a separate online mugshot database. Using both is useful because a booking image alone may not tell you whether a person remains in custody.
What a McLennan County Booking Record Can—and Cannot—Tell You
Booking and custody information
A jail record may help establish that a person was processed into county custody and may provide an inmate identifier, booking details, listed charges or bond information.
When custody status matters, rely on the current inmate list or confirm directly with the jail instead of treating an older screenshot as current.
Case outcome
The booking record is not the final court record. A criminal case can continue long after the jail event, and a person can be released while charges remain pending.
Use the clerk’s court-search route to check filings, hearings and disposition information.
| Need | Official route | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Current county custody | Current Inmate Listing | Best first check for people presently shown in McLennan County custody. |
| Booking photograph | Online Mugshots | County Sheriff’s mugshot-search route. |
| Misdemeanor case | McLennan County Clerk | County-level criminal case information and records. |
| Felony case | McLennan County District Clerk | District-court criminal case information. |
| Warrant question | Sheriff’s Warrant Division | Official contact for warrant-related questions: 254-757-5107. |
Check the Criminal Case After You Find a Booking
McLennan County’s District Clerk provides a public case-search route covering criminal and civil cases from 2001 to the present, with additional general information converted from an older system reaching back into the early 1980s. The county describes the index as free for members of the public.
The online case portal is hosted by the county’s technology vendor. The official McLennan County case-search page should be your starting point because it explains the portal and record-copy options.
The McLennan County Clerk supports misdemeanor criminal courts. The Criminal section is at 215 N. 5th Street, Room 201, Waco, TX 76701; phone 254-757-5185.
The McLennan County District Clerk handles district-court criminal records. The Criminal Division can be reached at 254-757-5054.
The District Clerk states that a criminal record search using a name and date of birth costs $5. This is different from browsing the public case index.
Document copies and certified records can carry fees. A free online search should not be interpreted as free certified copies.
Bond and Release Questions
Bond information can appear with a jail entry, but the amount shown in a booking record is not a guarantee that release has occurred. Processing, court conditions, additional holds or another case can affect whether a person is actually released.
Highway 6 Jail
For jail and bond-processing questions, McLennan County lists the Highway 6 Jail at 254-757-2555.
PR Bond Office
The county’s Pretrial Services / PR Bond Office is at 501 Washington Avenue, Suite 110, Waco, TX 76701 and lists 254-757-5004.
McLennan County’s Pretrial Services page currently says the personal-bond program has a one-time $20 fee and weekly call-in reporting when those conditions apply. Anyone already released on a personal bond should follow the specific instructions issued in their case rather than relying on general web information.
McLennan County Jail Visitation
The Sheriff’s Office states that, beginning April 5, 2026, in-person visitation moved to the McLennan County Jail – Bond Office Lobby.
| Visit type | Schedule | Important detail |
|---|---|---|
| In person — Sunday | 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. | Registration ends at 4:30 p.m. |
| In person — Monday | 12:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. | Registration ends at 7:30 p.m. |
| Remote — Tuesday through Saturday | 1:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. | Available through GettingOut / Go Visit apps. |
The county says inmates are allowed two 30-minute visits and that an in-person visitor must be on the visitation list and have a GettingOut account. Because jail schedules can change for security, operations or holidays, confirm the current schedule before making a long trip.
Mail for a McLennan County Jail Inmate
McLennan County states that personal mail is digitally delivered through the inmate’s GettingOut tablet. Physical personal mail is routed through a processing address in Phoenix, Maryland rather than mailed like ordinary personal correspondence directly to the local jail.

If the Person Is No Longer in the County Jail
A person can disappear from the McLennan County current-inmate list after release, transfer or movement into another correctional system. That does not, by itself, explain what happened to the criminal case.
If the person has moved into Texas Department of Criminal Justice custody, use the TDCJ offender search rather than the county jail list. TDCJ’s search accepts a name, SID number or TDCJ number and displays custody-status information for people in the state system.
