Arizona County Jail Inmate Search, Mugshots, Charges and Booking Records
An Arizona county jail search should begin with the county sheriff or detention agency that actually holds the person. There is no single statewide county-jail mugshot database, and Arizona counties no longer publish booking photographs or inmate lists in the same way.
Some counties still provide searchable online inmate rosters, while others require a jail phone call, press-release search or records request. After locating a booking, use Arizona court records to check the criminal case because a jail entry shows custody information—not the final outcome of a charge.
Identify the Arizona county before searching a name
County jail systems are separate. A person arrested in Tucson will normally be searched through Pima County, while a person held in Florence may appear through Pinal County. If the person has already moved into state prison custody, switch from the county jail to the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry.
A Mugshot Is Only One Step in an Arizona Jail Search
The useful search trail moves from the correct jail system to the individual booking record and then to the court case. If the person has been sentenced or transferred, the next record may be maintained by the state rather than the county.
County → booking record → court case → current custody

Official Arizona County Jail Search Routes
Arizona counties do not use one shared inmate-search platform. Start with the county that made the arrest or currently holds the person. The routes below were checked against current official county resources.
| County | Current route | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Pima County | Official Inmate Lookup | Searches people currently in Pima County Adult Detention Center custody. The public lookup accepts a last name and is updated regularly. |
| Pinal County | Official Inmate Search | Lists people currently incarcerated in Pinal County Jail. The county states that the listing updates every 60 minutes and released individuals no longer appear. |
| Yuma County | Detention Center Inmate Search | Search by name, subject number or booking number, with additional custody and booking-date filters. |
| Yavapai County | YCSO Online Inmate Search | The official search accepts a last name and displays the date and time through which the information is current. |
| Coconino County | Official Jail FAQ | Coconino says inmates are not listed on its website. Call the detention facility at 928-226-5200 and use the inmate-information menu. |
| Mohave County | Official Inmate Search Notice | Mohave says its inmate-search tool has been turned off. The county directs visitors to Sheriff’s Office press releases; detention information is also available by phone. |
| Cochise County | Sheriff Public Information | The Sheriff’s Office states that it stopped posting its “Mugshot” and “Inmate List” pages after legal review of the 2024 federal court decision. |
How to Run an AZ County Jail Inmate Search
Why Arizona County Mugshots May Be Missing
Public booking-photo practices changed materially in Arizona after the Ninth Circuit’s 2024 decision in Houston v. Maricopa County. The court concluded that Maricopa County’s policy of publicly posting identified photographs of arrestees before trial was not constitutionally permissible.
Mugshot and inmate list removed
Cochise County Sheriff says it stopped posting the “Mugshot” and “Inmate List” sections and stopped including booking photographs with social-media or press releases after its legal review.
Online inmate search turned off
Mohave County states that its inmate-search tool was turned off to comply with newly established legal requirements and court rulings. Its current page directs users toward Sheriff’s press releases.
Search tools still vary
Pima, Pinal, Yuma and Yavapai currently provide public inmate-search routes, but their fields and publication practices are not identical. Always read the current county page instead of assuming one Arizona-wide policy.
How to Read an Arizona Jail Booking Record
The exact fields depend on the county. Use the identifiers and custody information together instead of relying on a name or image by itself.
Use the spelling shown by the jail, including middle names, initials and suffixes. This can help when moving to a court search.
A locally assigned identifier can distinguish two people who share a similar name and is useful when speaking with detention staff.
This is the jail intake date. It is not necessarily the offense date, filing date or conviction date.
The jail may display an alleged offense associated with the booking. Check the court case for the filed charge and later case activity.
A displayed amount may apply to a particular case or charge. Other holds can still affect release.
“In custody” means the person remains listed as held in that jail system at the time of the data update. A released person may disappear from some public rosters.
When available, save it. A case number is usually the fastest way to move from jail information to court information.
Check Every Charge and Hold Before Relying on Bond Information
A booking can involve more than one charge, case or hold. Seeing a dollar amount does not necessarily mean payment of that amount alone will result in immediate release.
Confirm the complete custody picture
- Check whether more than one case is listed.
- Look for separate holds or detainers.
- Confirm the current bond amount with the jail or court.
- Verify the accepted payment route before sending money.
Release may not be immediate
Administrative processing, another case, a hold or a transfer can affect release. Use the current jail or court contact when timing matters.
Use Arizona Court Records to Check What Happened After the Booking
The Arizona Judicial Branch provides Public Access to Court Information for most courts in the state. Search the exact booked name or, preferably, the case number copied from the jail record.
Public Access provides case information across participating Arizona courts. The Judicial Branch also operates eAccess for eligible Superior Court civil and criminal records. Some cases or documents can be unavailable because they are sealed, restricted or otherwise protected.
No Arizona County Jail Result? Check These Possibilities
Some county searches only display current inmates. Pinal County, for example, says a person no longer appears after release.
The arresting city or agency may have booked the person into a different county facility than expected.
Coconino County states that inmates are not listed on its website and routes inmate-status questions through the detention-facility phone system.
Mohave County currently states that its online inmate-search tool has been turned off.
A sentenced or transferred individual may need to be searched through the Arizona Department of Corrections rather than a county roster.
A federal detainee or sentenced federal prisoner may require a Federal Bureau of Prisons or federal detention search instead of a county lookup.
County Jail Search vs. Arizona State Prison Search
County jail and state prison records answer different questions. A county sheriff generally handles local detention and booking records, while the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry maintains its own inmate data for people in the state correctional system.
Use the county sheriff or detention system
Best for current local custody, recent booking information, jail charges, bond and facility-specific information.
Use ADCRR Inmate Data Search
Use the state system when the person has entered Arizona correctional custody. ADCRR warns that release dates and release types shown in its search have not been verified or audited and can change.
Need an Older Booking Record or Jail Report?
A live inmate roster is not the same thing as a historical records archive. If a person has been released, the current roster may no longer return the booking even though an underlying jail, police or court record may still exist.
Use the responsible county’s records process
Look for an official “Records,” “Public Records,” “Jail Records” or “Records Request” page from the sheriff or detention agency. Requirements and fees differ by county.
Search the court separately
If charges were filed, the court record can remain useful after a person disappears from a live jail roster. Use the exact name and case number whenever possible.

Best Way to Search Arizona County Jail Records
The absence of a mugshot does not mean the arrest or booking record does not exist. Arizona counties currently use different publication policies, and some have intentionally removed online photographs or inmate-list tools.
For identity and legal-status questions, the strongest result comes from matching multiple identifiers and checking the current court record rather than relying on a copied booking image.
