Greenville County Mugshots, Recent Arrests & Inmate Search
To check whether someone is currently held in Greenville County, start with the county’s official incarcerated-inmate search. Use the booking information as a starting point, then confirm court status, bond, release information or older records through the agency responsible for that record.
Search the current Greenville County inmate database first
The county provides a public search for incarcerated inmates. Search by the person’s first and last name, then use the returned booking information to distinguish the correct person and determine the next record source you need.
If the search page displays Greenville County’s terms of use, review and accept those terms before continuing.
How to Search the Greenville County Inmate Roster
The official county search is designed for people who are currently incarcerated. Because jail information can change after bond, transfer, court action or release, treat the result as a current-custody lead rather than a permanent criminal-history record.
How to Check Recent Greenville County Arrests
For a recent arrest, first determine whether the person is still in the Greenville County Detention Center. Current jail data can change rapidly, so searching the official inmate database is more useful than relying on a static list of names copied onto another website.
Use the Greenville County inmate search.
Check the Greenville County Public Index for a related criminal court case, or request the underlying detention record from Public Records.
Use the Greenville County Department of Public Safety Records Management Services Division. Published fees apply to copies of detention records.
Use South Carolina VINE for offender location and applicable custody-status notifications.
A recent jail booking may occur before a criminal case is fully visible in the court system. Likewise, a court case can remain available after the person has left county custody. Checking both systems prevents a common mistake: treating an old booking record as proof that someone is still incarcerated.
Greenville County Mugshots and Booking Photos
Booking photographs are detention records, not proof of guilt. Availability can differ between the live inmate-search system and formal records requests, so use the county’s Public Records process when you need an official copy rather than a screenshot from an unofficial mugshot website.
Start with the jail search
Search the current incarcerated-inmate database first. This gives you the best route to verify that the person is actually associated with a current Greenville County detention record.
Use Public Records
The county’s published fee schedule lists a black-and-white mug shot photo at $3 and a color mug shot photo at $6. Verify the current fee before submitting a request.
Greenville County Booking Records and Public Records Fees
The Greenville County Department of Public Safety Records Management Services Division processes records for the Sheriff’s Office, Greenville Police Department and Detention Center. Its published fee schedule separates simple online inmate searching from copies of official detention records.
| Record | Published fee | When it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Electronic booking jail record | $3 per record | When you need an official electronic booking record. |
| Inmate booking report | $6 per report | For a paper booking report. |
| Jail time verification letter | $6 per individual request | For official verification of jail time. |
| Daily arrest docket / media bulletin copy | $5 per daily report | For a date-specific jail arrest docket or media bulletin. |
| Mug shot photo, black & white | $3 | For an official black-and-white booking photo copy. |
| Mug shot photo, color | $6 | For an official color booking photo copy. |
Records can contain redactions for privacy or security reasons. More complex research or review may also generate additional charges, so confirm the current total with Public Records when the request goes beyond a simple listed record.
Bond Amounts, Temporary Bonds and Release Status
Greenville County says bond information can appear with individual charges in the inmate search. A “temporary bond” means the person has not yet appeared before a judge for arraignment and a bond has not yet been set.
Bond has been set
Review the inmate-search entry for the charge-level bond information. For a court order affecting bail, use the appropriate court record as the controlling source.
Bond has been paid
Payment alone does not finish the jail release process. The Detention Center must receive judicial authorization before release processing begins.
If you are waiting for a release, call the Detention Division at 864-467-2330 for current facility information. Do not calculate a release time solely from the time a bond payment was made.
Verify Charges and Case Status in Greenville County Court Records
A booking record describes the arrest and detention event. It does not tell you the complete later outcome of the criminal case. For General Sessions criminal matters, use the Greenville County Public Index to review available case information.
Greenville County Detention Center Visitation
Adult inmate visitation is available seven days a week, but the exact visiting hours depend on the inmate’s housing assignment. Greenville County allows an inmate two 30-minute visits per week and up to three adults on the approved visitor list.
- The inmate may update the visitor list once every 30 days.
- A regular visit may include one adult and two minor children.
- Visitors need picture identification matching the approved visitor-list name.
- Phones, cameras, purses, bags, weapons and other prohibited items cannot be taken into the secure visiting area.
- Visits and visitor procedures can vary by housing location.
For inmates housed in Building Four, the county currently lists the Building Four Video Visitation Office in the Building Two public lobby as open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily, with the last visit accepted at 5:30 p.m. Check the official visitation page before traveling because housing assignments and operating procedures can change.

Lobby deposits
Public kiosks are available in Building One at 20 McGee Street and Building Two at 4 McGee Street. The county lists kiosk access 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Kiosks accept specified cash denominations and debit or credit cards. Service-provider fees can apply.
Commissary orders
Inmates may purchase commissary items twice per week. Greenville County lists a maximum purchase of $100 per order, with delivery schedules subject to change.
For kiosk credit-card deposits, the county currently limits an inmate to one credit-card deposit every 48 hours with a maximum of $100 per card transaction. Cash kiosk transactions do not have a county-listed maximum, and correctly posted funds are generally available immediately.
Mailed funds must be U.S. Postal or Western Union money orders. The county warns not to send cash through inmate mail.

The county also states that photographs are not accepted through postal inmate mail. Check the current mail page before sending anything because detention-mail rules can change.
Telephone service
Greenville County uses Securus Technologies for inmate telephone service. General-population inmates are normally given telephone access from 7:30 a.m. to midnight daily, although counts, meals, emergencies and facility operations can interrupt availability.
The Detention Center does not accept incoming calls for inmates and does not normally deliver non-emergency messages. Calls are generally subject to monitoring and recording, with separate procedures for confidential attorney calls.
Medical or Mental Health Concern After an Arrest
If a family member has a medical or mental-health concern after being booked into the Greenville County Detention Center, the county provides a route for family members to send relevant health information to staff. Medical personnel cannot disclose protected inmate medical information to friends or relatives, but they can receive information that may help with care.
Information for Detention Health Services
- Medical/Mental Health information fax: 864-467-2386
- Detention phone: 864-467-2330
- Medical Administrator’s Office: 20 McGee Street, Greenville, SC 29601
The county specifically instructs callers using the Detention phone to ask about leaving a Phone-In-Concern for Medical/Psychological Services when a detained family member has a health issue.
Detention Health Services GuidanceGet South Carolina Custody-Status Notifications
SC VINE provides offender custody information and applicable notifications for participating South Carolina county detention centers, state corrections and other supervision systems. It can be useful when you need more than a one-time Greenville County inmate search.
Search custody status
SC VINE allows members of the public to search for adult offender information using identifying information such as the offender’s name or number.
Register for alerts
Eligible users may register for applicable custody-status notifications by telephone, text or email. The statewide VINE assistance number is 1-866-727-2846.
If You Cannot Find the Greenville County Booking
Try the name again without a middle name or suffix. If the arrest was recent, allow time for booking. If the person was released, move to the Public Index or Public Records.
Stop before sharing the record. Compare identifying details and court information instead of relying on a matching name.
The county explains that a temporary bond means the person has not yet appeared before a judge for arraignment and bond has not yet been set.
Use the court index for the case and contact the Detention Center if you need current release-status information.
Use Public Records rather than expecting the current-inmate search to operate as a historical archive.
Recently adjudicated filings may require processing time. The Clerk advises allowing 2–3 business days before requesting newly adjudicated case documents.
