Horry County Mugshots, Recent Arrests and Official Booking Search

The best starting point for Horry County mugshots and recent arrest information is the official Horry County Government J. Reuben Long Detention Center Bookings & Releases service. It is designed for local booking and release lookups rather than a commercial people-search database.

Use the booking result to confirm the person’s identity, booking date, release information and arresting agency, then move to the appropriate official service for bond, court records, visitation, inmate communications, account deposits or victim notification.

Best first action

Search Horry County’s official booking and release page

Horry County publishes a dedicated Bookings & Releases route for the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. The county’s published materials show search options such as last name, booking date and release date.

The Sheriff’s Office warns that it does not collect bond payments by phone. For bond questions, call Booking at 843-915-6911 or follow the official bond instructions.

A mugshot or booking result is the starting point, not the complete case history.

Identity and record reading

What a Horry County Booking Record Can Tell You

Horry County’s public materials show booking results organized around identifying and custody information. Use those fields together. A name alone is not enough for a reliable match.

Useful follow-up routes after finding a booking record
Task Best source What it helps confirm
Recent booking or release J. Reuben Long Bookings & Releases Name, booking/release information and arresting agency
Current detention questions J. Reuben Long Detention Center Facility procedures and inmate-service contacts
Bond Detention Center Bond Information Bond hearing route, accepted payment methods and magistrate contact
Criminal case Horry County Public Index Court case activity, actions and dispositions
Release notification SAVIN / South Carolina VINE Custody and release notification options
Do not confuse booking data with a final criminal-history result. Booking information records detention activity. A court case can later be dismissed, reduced, transferred, resolved by plea, tried or otherwise disposed of.
Booking photographs

Are Horry County Mugshots Available Online?

The official county route is the Bookings & Releases service. When a booking photograph is made available with a record, treat the image as one part of that booking record rather than proof of criminal responsibility. Not every search result or historical record is guaranteed to display the same information.

If your real goal is to confirm a current detention, bond amount or court outcome, the photograph is usually less useful than the person’s booking details and court identifiers.

Better verification: match the person’s full name with age or date of birth where shown, booking date, booking number and arresting agency. Then confirm the legal case separately.
Bond and magistrate information

How Horry County Bond Information Works

Horry County’s detention-center bond page says cash and surety bonds are posted through the Magistrate’s Office. The office accepts cash, money orders and major credit cards; personal checks are not accepted. Exact cash is required when a bond is paid in cash.

The county lists Magistrate Office hours as Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday, Sunday and holidays, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Bond hearings and guilty pleas commonly occur around 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., but the county says those times can change.

Scam warning: Horry County states that the Sheriff’s Office will not collect bond payment over the phone. The county directs bond payment to the Magistrate’s Office and lists Booking at 843-915-6911 for questions.
Certain serious charges cannot have bond set by a magistrate judge. The county says those hearings are scheduled through the Solicitor’s Office and bond is set by a Circuit Court judge in General Sessions Court.
Case follow-up

Check the Horry County Court Record After the Booking

The Horry County Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Public Index is the better tool when your question changes from “Was this person booked?” to “What happened in the criminal case?”

Horry County’s published guidance says the Public Index can be searched using names, court agency or case type, court actions or dispositions, and date ranges. It may contain civil as well as criminal cases, so select and read the matching case carefully.

Booking question

Use the detention-center Bookings & Releases page.

Case outcome

Use the Horry County Public Index and read the court action or disposition.

Current jail procedure

Use the J. Reuben Long Detention Center service page or call the appropriate detention-center unit.

Family and visitor planning

J. Reuben Long Detention Center Visitation

J. Reuben Long uses video visitation. The county states that all visits must be scheduled in advance and visitors must create an account with NCIC Correctional Services and obtain authorization before scheduling.

Current visiting windows

  • Monday–Saturday: 8:20 a.m.–10:50 a.m.
  • Monday–Saturday: 1:00 p.m.–4:10 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Thursday additional window: 6:15 p.m.–8:15 p.m.

On-site vs. remote

On-site video visits are free. The county currently lists remote video visitation at $0.30 per minute and requires remote visits to be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

Inmates are permitted a total of four on-site and remote visits per week.

Video visits are monitored and recorded. Follow the detention center’s current dress, conduct and recording rules; violations can lead to suspension or loss of visitation privileges.
Inmate accounts

Deposits, Commissary and Inmate Money

Horry County says general-population inmates may order commissary items twice each week when sufficient money is available in the inmate account. Orders are processed Monday and Thursday mornings and delivered Tuesday and Friday mornings.

Online deposits

The county directs users to McDaniel Supply Company for online inmate-account deposits. Service fees may apply.

Lobby kiosk

The detention-center lobby has a deposit kiosk. Horry County currently lists a $3 service fee.

Mail and transfer options

The county also publishes USPS money-order, qualifying check and Western Union instructions.

Do not mail cash for an inmate account. Horry County specifically states that cash is not accepted through U.S. mail.
Communications

Mail, Messages and Telephone Calls

Horry County transitioned inmate communications to NCIC Correctional Services beginning November 12, 2025. The county offers electronic messaging and a separate physical-mail scanning process.

Physical inmate mail

General incoming mail is sent to the processing center using:

Inmate Name
Account #
J Reuben Long Detention Center
PO Box 591
Longview, TX 75606

This is the county’s current scanning address for general inmate correspondence, not the physical detention-center address.

Important mail limits

  • Include inmate name, account number and return address.
  • General letters may contain no more than five pages.
  • Do not write on the back of pages sent for scanning.
  • The county currently allows a maximum of one photo per mailing.
  • Legal and medical mail must follow the separate facility instructions.

General-population inmates also have access to telephones each day for outgoing collect or debit calls. Calls are subject to monitoring and recording.

After custody

Release Information and Sentence Credits

Horry County says inmates sentenced to 90 days or less on criminal charges, and inmates serving qualifying Family Court sentences, may serve that sentence at J. Reuben Long. Sentence calculations are handled by the classification department, and the county states that time calculations are updated daily after 2:00 p.m.

The detention center also publishes information about possible work and good-time credits for eligible sentenced inmates. Those credits depend on the person’s sentence, assignment and other requirements, and a sentencing judge may deny work credit.

A bond payment does not always mean immediate release. Other cases, holds, warrants, detainers, sentence requirements or processing steps can affect custody. Recheck the booking record or contact Booking before making assumptions.
Custody notification

SAVIN and South Carolina Victim Notification

Horry County describes SAVIN as an automated notification service connected to the J. Reuben Long booking system. Registered victims can receive release-related notifications by phone, text or email.

South Carolina Department of Corrections also publishes South Carolina VINE as a free public inquiry and notification route. Its statewide automated line is 1-866-727-2846.

Local records

Need More Than a Booking Search?

The Horry County Sheriff’s Office offers local record checks and also directs the public to the Public Index for online court-record access. A local record check is different from simply looking at recent detention-center bookings.

The Sheriff’s Office currently lists local record-check service hours as Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.. Follow the Sheriff’s current instructions if you need an official local-record service rather than a booking lookup.
