Find Horry County Mugshots, Recent Bookings and Release Records
The best starting point for a Horry County mugshot or recent-arrest search is the county’s official Bookings & Releases application. It searches records associated with the J. Reuben Long Detention Center by last name, booking date or release date and is more useful for current booking research than relying on a copied mugshot page.
Search the official Horry County booking system
Use the county application before searching third-party mugshot collections. The official form currently provides fields for a last name, booking date and release date. It also displays a data-collection timestamp, which is useful when deciding how current the displayed information is.
Use the Booking Photo as the Start of the Record Trail
A recent Horry County booking can answer whether an intake was recorded, but it does not automatically answer whether the person remains in custody, what bond currently applies or what eventually happened in court. Those questions belong to different official systems.
What a Horry County Booking Record Can — and Cannot — Tell You
Use it for booking research
- Confirming that a booking entry exists
- Comparing booking and release dates
- Checking the booking photograph when displayed
- Identifying an arresting agency or booking number when available
- Finding information you can use for a court search
Do not treat it as the final case result
- A booking does not establish guilt.
- An initial charge may not be the final prosecuted charge.
- An old photo does not establish current custody.
- A jail record does not replace the court docket.
- Important identity decisions should not be made from a photo alone.

Bond: Verify the Charge Before Trying to Pay
Horry County directs cash and surety bond transactions through the Magistrate’s Office. The county states that the office accepts cash, money orders and major credit cards for applicable bond payments and does not accept personal checks. Anyone paying cash should bring the exact amount.
Magistrate office hours
Monday–Friday: 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Bond hearings and guilty pleas typically occur around 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., but the schedule can change. Call 843-915-5145 to confirm.
Some charges require a different court route
Horry County notes that magistrate judges cannot set bond for certain serious charges, including murder and specified criminal sexual conduct charges involving a minor. Those hearings are scheduled through the Solicitor’s Office and handled in General Sessions.
Horry County Jail Visitation: Video Visits and Current Time Windows
J. Reuben Long uses video visitation. Visitors must create an account with NCIC Correctional Services and receive approval before scheduling. Horry County says inmates may receive a total of four visits per week across on-site and remote visits.
Regular visiting windows
Monday–Saturday:
8:20 a.m.–10:50 a.m.
1:00 p.m.–4:10 p.m.
Additional Tuesday and Thursday hours:
6:15 p.m.–8:15 p.m.
On-site versus remote
Approved on-site visits are free. Remote visits can be completed from a compatible computer, tablet or cellphone and must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
Horry County currently lists remote video visitation at $0.30 per minute. Visits are monitored and recorded.
Depositing Money and Using Commissary
General-population inmates can use money in their inmate account for additional commissary items such as hygiene products, clothing, writing materials and snacks. Maximum-security inmates have more limited commissary access.
Horry County links to McDaniel Supply Company for inmate-account deposits. Service fees may apply.
A kiosk is available in the Detention Center’s main lobby. Horry County currently lists a $3 service fee.
USPS money orders and qualifying IRS checks can be mailed to the inmate at 4150 J. Reuben Long Ave., Conway, SC 29526, Attention: Cashier’s Office. Do not send cash through the mail.
Horry County also publishes a Western Union route using the inmate’s account number and last name. Verify the account information before sending money.
Mail, Messages and Inmate Calls
J. Reuben Long now uses NCIC Correctional Services for inmate communications. Electronic messages can include letters, photos and documents after the sender creates an NCIC account. Horry County currently lists text messages at $0.25 and picture/document messages at $0.35 each.
Physical personal mail is scanned in Texas
Address personal correspondence as:
Inmate Name
Acct#
J Reuben Long Detention Center
PO BOX 591
Longview, Texas 75606
- Include the inmate’s name, account number and your return address.
- Mail may contain no more than five pages.
- Write only on the front side of each page.
- Only one photo is permitted per mailing.
- Do not send legal or medical mail to the Texas scanning address.
- Items sent to the scanning center are destroyed after processing and are not returned.
General-population inmates have daily access to outgoing collect or debit telephone calls. Calls are subject to monitoring and recording.
Release Information and SC VINE/SAVIN Notifications
The booking application is useful for checking a release date when one has been posted, but repeated page-refreshing is not the best way to monitor a custody change. South Carolina’s victim-notification system provides a separate notification route.
Horry County SAVIN
Horry County says SAVIN communicates with the J. Reuben Long booking system in near real-time and can send calls, text messages or email when an offender is being released.
Victims who need a notification PIN should contact a victim advocate.
SC VINE
SC VINE provides statewide offender custody information and notification services. The public can search online or call 1-866-727-2846.
A jail release notification is a custody update, not a statement about the final court outcome.
Use the Horry County Public Index for the Court Case
Once you have identified the booking, use the 15th Judicial Circuit Public Index when you need the court side of the record. Horry County describes the Public Index as a search tool for Horry and Georgetown County court records, including criminal and civil cases.
Search with the booked name
Start with the name from the official booking result. When several people share a similar name, use available dates, case information and court activity to reduce wrong-person matches.
Look for the later case status
Court activity can answer questions a mugshot cannot: whether a case was filed, later court events, actions and dispositions that appear in the public record.
Records Checks, Warrants and Police Reports Are Separate Tasks
A jail booking search is not a universal criminal-background search and is not a warrant confirmation service. Choose the office that controls the record you actually need.
The Sheriff’s Office currently provides local record checks free of charge Monday–Friday from 8:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m. The Public Index is also available online.
Contact the Horry County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division at 843-915-8347 instead of assuming that absence from a jail search means no warrant exists.
Request the incident or police report from the law-enforcement agency that created it. A booking record and an incident report are different records.
Use the Horry County Public Index or Clerk of Court rather than a historical booking photo when disposition matters.
If You Cannot Find the Horry County Booking You Expected
Recheck the spelling of the last name and remove unnecessary date restrictions. A new arrest may also still be moving through intake before the public system reflects it.
Check the release date and court record. Do not describe someone as currently incarcerated from an old screenshot or copied third-party page.
Compare booking date, age or date-of-birth information where available, arresting agency, booking number and court information before deciding that two records refer to the same person.
Call Booking at 843-915-6911 or the Magistrate’s Office at 843-915-5145. Do not send money based on an unsolicited phone call.
Use SC VINE for custody-status research and check the court record. A person may no longer appear as currently housed even though the criminal case continues.
Because the county itself warns that booking data may contain inaccuracies, verify an important discrepancy with the detention center, responsible law-enforcement agency or court.
