Gainesville FL Mugshots, Recent Arrests & Alachua County Jail Records

For a recent Gainesville arrest, start with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office inmate lookup. It can confirm whether a person is currently in the Alachua County Jail and accepts a last name, first name or booking number; incomplete names can also be searched.

If you need the arrest report rather than current jail custody, use Gainesville Police or Sheriff records. For the criminal case, court dates or later disposition, move to the Alachua County Clerk’s court-record system.

Booking is not conviction. An arrest record, booking photo, allegation, bond amount or jail entry does not establish guilt. Charges may be amended, dismissed or resolved differently in court, so verify the court record before drawing conclusions.
Fastest official route

Start with the county jail search

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office operates the county jail serving Gainesville. Search the official jail lookup first, then use the booking number or case information you find to continue into court or records systems.

Before opening several sites Write down the person’s full legal name, approximate age or date of birth if known, booking number, arrest date and case number. Those identifiers make it much easier to distinguish people with similar names.

Choose What You Need to Find

Recent Gainesville Arrests vs. Alachua County Jail Bookings

These records answer different questions. Gainesville Police may create an arrest or incident report, while the Alachua County Jail creates the custody and booking record when a person is admitted to that facility.

Current jail custody

Use the Alachua County Sheriff inmate-search page. It is designed to show whether a person is currently an inmate in the county jail.

Gainesville arrest report

Use the Gainesville Police Records Section. GPD says its P2C resource offers limited information from some incident and arrest reports.

Sheriff offense report

Use the ACSO public-records process for Sheriff offense reports, calls-for-service records and qualifying jail records.

Court disposition

Use the Alachua County Clerk court-record search to follow the criminal case beyond the booking stage.

A person may disappear from a current-inmate search after release or transfer. That does not erase the underlying booking or court case. Use records and court systems when researching a past event.

What Gainesville Booking Information Can Tell You

A booking record is primarily a custody record. Read each field in that context rather than treating the whole page as a statement about guilt or the final outcome of a criminal case.

Use the source that matches the question you are trying to answer.
Record Best source What it can confirm
Current inmate status Alachua County Sheriff Whether a person is currently listed in county jail custody
Booking number County jail record A useful identifier for distinguishing bookings and contacting jail staff
Arrest or incident report GPD or ACSO Records The law-enforcement record associated with the incident or arrest
Charges and court activity Alachua County Clerk Filed court case information and available docket activity
State prison status Florida DOC State prison or state supervision records, not ordinary county-jail custody

Charge

A listed charge describes an allegation or booking basis. It does not by itself establish a conviction.

Bond

A bond amount or release condition can change after judicial review. Confirm the current amount before making payment arrangements.

Booking photo

A photograph identifies the person booked into custody at that time. It does not show the later court result.

Check the Alachua County Court Case After an Arrest

The Alachua County Clerk’s online court-record system provides the latest documents on file that are available for electronic access. Some records are confidential or otherwise unavailable online, so the absence of a document image should not be treated as proof that a case or filing does not exist.

Online criminal records

Alachua County states that online document availability for criminal court records begins in December 2005. Availability is also controlled by Florida court-access rules.

Older records

The County warns that many closed criminal records from before 1990 cannot be researched online. Older material may require direct research through the Clerk’s records office.

Why the court record matters: A booking page can show the initial custody event. The court docket is where you should look for later filings, hearings and case disposition when that information is publicly available.

Bond and Release at the Alachua County Jail

The Sheriff’s current bail and release instructions state that bonds may be posted at the jail lobby window from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. After hours, the service window to the left of the jail’s front entrance is used.

Cash bond

The Sheriff says cash bonds may be posted with cash, money order or cashier’s check payable to the “Clerk of the Court.” Money orders and cashier’s checks should include the inmate’s correct full name and MNI number.

Surety bond

A surety bond must use a certified bonding agency registered with both the Alachua County Clerk and ACSO to write bonds in the county. The bond paperwork must match the applicable case and charge information.

Administrative Supervisor (352) 491-4479
Verify before paying. Bond status may depend on multiple charges, holds, court orders or updated release conditions. Confirm the current information directly with the jail or court before sending money.

Review the ACSO bail, bonding and release instructions for the current official process.

How to Request Gainesville Arrest and Jail Records

If the online search does not provide the document you need, request it from the agency that created or maintains the record. A jail record, Gainesville Police incident report and court record are handled by different offices.

Gainesville Police

GPD arrest and incident records

The GPD Records Section handles incident and traffic-crash reports, background checks and other department records. Its published location is 545 NW 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601.

  • Records phone: (352) 393-7565
  • Front desk hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
  • P2C offers limited information for some incident and arrest reports.

Gainesville Police Records

Make a narrow request. Provide a name, approximate incident or arrest date, report or booking number and the specific document you need. A focused request helps the records office identify the right file and can reduce unnecessary search work.

ACSO states that fees may apply to requests involving 20 pages or more or more than 15 minutes of employee time. Its posted duplication charges include $0.15 per single-sided page and $0.20 per double-sided page, with additional labor calculated under the agency’s published policy when applicable.

Visitation, Calls, Mail and Money for Alachua County Inmates

Once you confirm that someone is in the Alachua County Jail, use the Sheriff’s inmate-services rules instead of assuming procedures used by another Florida jail.

Visitation

Visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance through the jail’s designated video-visitation scheduling service. ACSO states that eligible inmates may receive up to two hours of non-contact visitation per week, subject to housing and disciplinary restrictions.

Visitors need acceptable photo identification and must comply with the jail’s dress and security rules.

Phone calls

Inmates cannot receive incoming calls. The Sheriff states that outgoing telephone privileges are provided daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Beginning August 3, 2026, inmate calls are limited automatically to 10 minutes under the jail’s published rule.

Mail

Except for privileged/legal mail, the jail requires incoming personal mail to be sent as a postcard meeting its published size and content rules.

Money and care packages

The jail lists lobby deposits, money orders and approved outside vendors among the available funding routes. Some transactions may require the inmate’s full MNI number, so confirm that identifier before attempting a deposit.

Check current ACSO inmate-services rules before visiting, mailing or sending money.

If the Person Is No Longer in the Gainesville County Jail

A county-jail search and a Florida state-prison search cover different custody systems. If the person was sentenced to state prison or is under qualifying state supervision, check the Florida Department of Corrections offender search.

County custody

Use ACSO for people currently held at the Alachua County Jail.

Florida state custody

Use the Florida Department of Corrections for people sentenced to state prison or included in the state correctional database.

Case outcome

Use the Alachua County Clerk for court activity and available disposition information.

Florida DOC explains that its offender data covers felony offenders sentenced to the Department of Corrections and does not include ordinary county-jail custody or every form of local supervision.

Verify a Gainesville Mugshot or Arrest Record Before Using It

Name-only matching creates a real risk of identifying the wrong person. Before sharing or relying on a Gainesville booking record, compare several identifiers and then check the later court record when the outcome matters.

  • Match the full legal name rather than only a surname.
  • Compare age or date of birth when publicly available.
  • Record the booking number and arrest date.
  • Check whether the person is still in custody or has been released.
  • Compare charge descriptions with the court case.
  • Do not treat a booking photo as proof of conviction.
  • Check for dismissal, amendment or later disposition in the court record.

Gainesville FL Mugshots and Arrest Records FAQ

Where can I find Gainesville FL mugshots?
Start with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office inmate lookup for a person believed to be currently held in the county jail. Booking-photo availability can vary by record, so do not assume every inmate entry will display an image.
How do I search the Alachua County Jail inmate list?
The official ACSO lookup accepts a last name, first name or booking number. The Sheriff states that incomplete name entries are allowed and that users can also choose to display all current inmates.
Does Gainesville Police have an arrest search?
GPD’s Records Section links to a P2C resource that provides limited information involving some incident and arrest reports. For documents not available there, use the department’s public-record request process.
Is an Alachua County booking the same as a conviction?
No. A booking reflects custody following an arrest or other legal basis for detention. Guilt and final case disposition are determined through the court process.
How can I find out whether someone has been released?
Check the current ACSO inmate lookup first. If the person is no longer listed, contact the jail when necessary and review the related court record for later case information.
What phone number should I call for Alachua County Jail records?

How do I check a Gainesville criminal court case?
Use the Alachua County Clerk of Circuit Court online court-record system. Some documents and confidential case types are restricted from online display.
Can I request a Gainesville arrest report?
Yes. If Gainesville Police created the report, use GPD Records. If the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office created the record, use ACSO’s public-record process. Ask the agency that actually maintains the document.
Should I use Florida DOC to search a recent Gainesville arrest?
Usually not as the first step. Florida DOC is the state correctional system, while a recent Gainesville county-jail booking is normally checked through the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office. DOC becomes useful when the person is in state prison or qualifying state supervision.
