Spartanburg County Mugshots, Recent Bookings & Charges
The Spartanburg County Sheriff provides an official Bookings Search for people looking for recent jail booking information. Start there for a current county detention record, then use the South Carolina court Public Index when you need to follow a charge into the court system.
Start with the official Spartanburg County booking search
If your goal is to find a recent Spartanburg County arrest, inmate record or booking photo, use the Sheriff’s Office booking tool before relying on reposted mugshot websites.
A booking page answers the jail question. The court record is the better place to follow what happened to the criminal case afterward.
How to search Spartanburg County mugshots and bookings
The quickest route is the Sheriff’s Bookings Search. A broad web image search can surface old or copied records, while the county booking system is designed around Spartanburg detention information.
What a Spartanburg booking record can tell you
Booking identity
A booking entry is intended to identify the person processed into custody. Depending on what the official system displays, this can include a name, booking information and a booking image.
Charges
The booking record may list one or more charges associated with that custody event. Charges are allegations and should not be described as convictions unless a court record establishes that result.
Bond or custody details
The Sheriff’s detention information may include bail or other booking details. Because custody data can change quickly, recheck the official source before acting on an older result.
How to check Spartanburg County charges and court cases
A jail booking and a court case answer different questions. The booking record documents the custody event; the court system is where you look for available case status, hearings, payments and later disposition information.
Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Bookings Search is the primary route for county booking information.
Spartanburg County Public Index is the court route for available case information after a charge enters the judicial system.
Spartanburg County’s Magistrate Court handles many criminal and traffic matters and also operates a Bond Court office at the detention center.
If a booking appears but the court search does not immediately show a matching case, check spelling, allow for processing time and confirm whether the matter belongs in Magistrate, Municipal or General Sessions court.
Bond and release information after a Spartanburg arrest
Spartanburg County states that magistrates conduct bond proceedings multiple times each day, including holidays, and that many of those proceedings take place at the Magistrate Court offices in the detention facility.
What a bond hearing decides
The magistrate can determine whether release will be on personal recognizance or whether another type of bond is required. Bond conditions are not a finding of guilt.
Common bond types
Depending on the case, release may involve a personal-recognizance bond, cash, a surety arrangement or a professional bondsman. The exact requirement comes from the court.
How to confirm whether someone is still in custody
Do not assume that a booking page means the person remains jailed. Release, transfer, bond and other custody changes can occur after the original booking entry was created.
- Recheck the Sheriff’s current booking or inmate information.
- Use SC VINE when you need an additional custody-status route.
- Confirm the person with more than a name when possible.
- For a court outcome, check the court record separately.
SC VINE
South Carolina VINE provides custody information and notification services for participating detention systems. The statewide service can also be reached at 1-866-727-2846.

Because the county and Sheriff’s pages list different operational numbers, use the number associated with the specific service you need.
Visiting someone in the Spartanburg County jail
The Sheriff’s visitation policy uses video visitation for general family and friend visits. The published policy says a detained person is generally allowed two 30-minute visitation time slots per week, plus one paid remote visit of 20 or 40 minutes when available, unless privileges are restricted.
Schedule first
General visits are scheduled through the jail’s approved video-visitation service. Do not drive to the facility expecting an unscheduled general visit.
Arrive early
The Sheriff’s policy tells visitors to arrive before the scheduled visit so check-in can be completed. Late arrival can result in a missed visit.
Check the current Spartanburg County visitation policy before scheduling.
Sending mail to a Spartanburg County inmate
The Sheriff’s Office says regular inmate mail is scanned for digital viewing, so the mailing address for ordinary inmate correspondence is different from the physical detention-center address used for privileged legal mail.

The Sheriff’s published mail rules also say mailed money orders must be U.S. Postal Money Orders and should identify the inmate by name and inmate number. Check the current rules before sending money, books, photographs or other material.
Phone calls and inmate communication
The Sheriff’s Office uses a contracted inmate telephone system and identifies SmartInmate as the jail’s telephone vendor. Friends or relatives who want to receive paid inmate calls may need to establish an account with the approved provider.
Spartanburg County warrant searches are a separate task
An old booking or mugshot does not tell you whether a person currently has an active warrant. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Warrant Division handles active warrants, bench warrants, Family Court warrants and General Sessions bench warrants.
Warrant Division
For warrant-related questions, the Sheriff’s contact directory lists the Warrants Office at 864-596-2624.
Booking photo, arrest record and criminal history are not the same thing
| Task | Best official route | What it can show |
|---|---|---|
| Recent arrest or booking | Sheriff’s Bookings Search | Available county booking information and related detention details. |
| Case status | SC Judicial Public Index | Available court case activity and disposition information. |
| Current custody or notification | SC VINE | Custody information and eligible status notifications. |
| Warrant question | Sheriff’s Warrant Division | Official contact route for warrant-related matters. |
A criminal-history request can involve a different agency and process than a county jail booking search. Use the record type that matches the question you are actually trying to answer.
If you cannot find the Spartanburg County booking
Recheck the spelling and try reasonable name variations. A recently arrested person may not appear immediately while intake processing is underway.
Use the old record only as a lead. Recheck current jail and court sources because the person’s custody or case status may have changed.
Compare middle name or initial, age or date of birth, booking date and any available identifiers before concluding that two records refer to the same person.
Confirm the court level, spelling and timing. Jail processing and court-record availability do not necessarily occur at the same moment.
A release does not erase the booking record, and a booking record does not show the complete court outcome. Check the Public Index for later case information.
