Dothan Mugshots, Recent Arrests & Booking Records
For a current Dothan arrest or booking, start with the Houston County Sheriff’s official inmate-confinement search. It lets you check current confinements and search admissions or releases by date range, while the Dothan Police Department publishes selected arrest-related news and booking information.
Search the official Houston County booking system
The Houston County Sheriff links directly to its public “Inmate Confinements” system. The search provides routes for current confinements, admissions by date range, releases by date range, names, charges and arresting agencies.
A booking record answers a custody question. A court record answers what happened to the criminal case afterward.
What do you need to find?
How to check recent Dothan arrests and bookings
Dothan is in Houston County, so the county sheriff’s inmate-confinement system is the strongest first stop for county jail custody. Its public search includes current confinements plus admission and release searches with date-range options such as the last 24 hours and last seven days.
Houston County Sheriff
Use this route when you need to know whether a person is currently confined, when a booking was recorded, what charges are listed, or which agency made the arrest.
Dothan Police Department
Dothan Police publishes selected arrest and investigation releases. These reports can add incident context but should not be treated as a complete jail roster.
Where to find Dothan mugshots
Start with the official Houston County inmate search rather than a commercial mugshot directory. The county’s booking system is the correct place to establish whether the person actually has a current or recent Houston County confinement record.
Dothan Police arrest releases also sometimes display an arrest-related image with the department’s public announcement. Those releases are selective, so the absence of a police post does not prove that no arrest occurred.
How to search Dothan booking records
Understanding charges, bond and custody status
A charge shown in a jail record is an accusation associated with the booking. It is not proof that the person was convicted.
If a bond is displayed, read it as booking or court information current to that record. Bond status can change after a hearing or new court order.
A “no bond” status should not be interpreted beyond what the record states. Contact the jail, court or attorney for the current legal position.
A person can disappear from the current-confinement list after release. Use the official release-date search before assuming the earlier booking was incorrect.
Verify a Dothan arrest through court records
The Houston County Circuit Clerk is the official record keeper for Houston County District and Circuit Court proceedings. The clerk states that most Alabama trial-court information can be obtained through the state’s online court-record system, with fees applying to the “Just One Look” access service.

What if the person no longer appears in the current inmate list?
Do not assume the record vanished or the arrest did not happen. The Houston County search includes a separate “Releases by Date Range” route, which is useful when the person has bonded out, completed a short detention, transferred or otherwise left current confinement.
- Search releases for the likely release date.
- Check admissions for the original booking date.
- Compare the arresting agency and listed charges.
- Call Houston County Jail at 334-712-0762 if the online record is unclear.
- Use court records to determine what happened after the booking.
Houston County Jail visitation rules
The sheriff’s published visitation rules require face-to-face visits to be scheduled in advance by calling the jail. Walk-in visits are not accepted, and the sheriff instructs visitors to schedule no later than 3 p.m. on the Friday before the applicable weekend visit.
| Rule | Published requirement |
|---|---|
| Visitor list | The inmate must submit an approved visitor list; the published limit is eight names. |
| ID | Visitors age 16 or older must present current government-issued photo identification. |
| Visit length | The jail publishes one 30-minute face-to-face visit on the designated weekend. |
| Number of visitors | Two people, including children, may participate in a face-to-face visit on the visitation day. |
| Electronic devices | Electronic devices are not allowed in the jail during visitation. |
Phone calls and commissary deposits
Inmate phone service
Houston County Sheriff currently identifies ICSolutions as the jail’s inmate telephone provider. The sheriff publishes 1-888-506-8407 for prepaid accounts and inmate debit funding.
The jail also states that calls may be monitored or recorded, call forwarding and three-way calling are not permitted, and the published maximum call length is 15 minutes.
Commissary deposits
The sheriff publishes Inmate Canteen for commissary accounts. Online deposits require the inmate’s name, inmate number, Houston County Jail as the location and a credit or debit card.
A lobby kiosk is also listed as an alternative during normal business hours. Valid identification is required at the kiosk, and the sheriff notes that transaction service fees apply.
Mail rules for a Houston County Jail inmate
Houston County has specific personal-mail formatting rules. Before mailing anything, verify the current sheriff instructions because noncompliant mail can be rejected.
- Personal mail is subject to inspection for contraband.
- The sheriff specifies a single sheet of 8½ × 11 card stock folded in half under its published personal-mail format.
- Hand-delivered personal mail and packages are not accepted under the published rule.
- The envelope must include the sender’s first and last name and complete address.
- The sheriff also requires the inmate number and pod location.
- Nicknames are not accepted.
What if the person was transferred to Alabama state prison?
A Houston County jail search is not the right database for someone who has entered Alabama Department of Corrections custody. ADOC provides a separate statewide inmate search that accepts an AIS number or inmate name.
The department says its online database contains people currently incarcerated in ADOC custody and does not provide historical inmate data online. When available, the six-digit AIS number is the fastest identifier because ADOC treats it as the unique inmate number.

Common search problems
Check the admissions and releases date-range searches. The person may have been released, transferred or booked under a spelling variation.
Compare booking date, charge details and arresting agency. Do not identify someone from a name or photograph alone.
Determine whether the matter belongs to Houston County District/Circuit Court or Dothan Municipal Court before searching again.
An old image may remain on third-party sites after release or case resolution. Verify the current official custody and court record rather than assuming the image reflects present status.
