Daytona & Volusia Mugshots, Recent Bookings and Charges
For a current Daytona-area jail booking, start with Volusia County Division of Corrections. Its public inmate-information system is the county route for custody and booking information, while the Volusia County Clerk provides recent arrest/booking downloads and criminal court records.
Do not rely on a mugshot alone to decide whether someone is currently jailed or was convicted. A booking image reflects an arrest or jail intake event; charges may later be changed, dismissed or resolved differently in court.
Start with the official Volusia County search
The County’s inmate-information route is the best starting point for finding a current Volusia County booking and the booking number used for several jail services. Volusia County states that its online inmate information is for general informational use and is updated about every 15 minutes.
How to search Daytona and Volusia County jail bookings
A Daytona Beach arrest may lead to a Volusia County jail booking even though the arresting agency is a city police department rather than the Sheriff’s Office. For custody and booking information, the important distinction is that Volusia County Division of Corrections operates the county jail system.
Recent Volusia County arrest and booking files
The Volusia County Clerk provides a separate Arrest/Booking Download compiled from the County’s Jail Management System. The Clerk explains that the files are created by Volusia County rather than maintained by the Clerk.
The recent report covers people arrested and booked into the Branch Jail during the preceding 24 hours. The Clerk states that the daily files remain available for roughly 14 calendar days, making this route useful when you are checking a recent Daytona or Volusia County arrest.
Use the current inmate search when
- You need present custody information.
- You need a booking number.
- You are preparing for visitation.
- You need current booking or bond details.
Use the 24-hour booking download when
- You are checking a very recent arrest.
- You want the County’s daily booking data.
- You need a recent booking date or charge reference.
- The person may no longer be in current custody.
What a Volusia booking record can tell you
A booking record is an intake record connected to custody. Depending on the record and timing, it may show identifying information, a booking number, booking date, listed charges, bond information and a booking photograph.
A photograph associated with booking. It documents intake and does not establish guilt.
A jail identifier that helps distinguish people and is needed for services such as Volusia County visitation scheduling.
The allegation or legal basis recorded at booking. Court records should be checked for later amendments or disposition.
The amount or release condition associated with custody at that point in the process. A judge may change bond at First Appearance.
Indicates whether the person appears to remain in the county jail system. A past booking should not be treated as proof of current incarceration.
Volusia County jail locations in Daytona Beach
Volusia County Corrections operates two facilities west of central Daytona Beach. The County says both are reached from U.S. 92 near Red John Road and Indian Lake Road.
| Facility | Address | Phone | Primary use described by County |
|---|---|---|---|
| Volusia County Branch Jail | 1300 Red John Road, Daytona Beach, FL 32120 | 386-254-1555 | Pretrial, state-sentenced, and medium/high-custody nonsentenced male inmates. |
| Volusia County Correctional Facility | 1354 N. Indian Lake Road, Daytona Beach, FL 32120 | 386-254-1565 | County-sentenced, low/medium-custody nonsentenced male inmates, and female inmates. |
Bond, First Appearance and release
First Appearance
Volusia County states that a person remaining in custody normally appears before a judge within one day of jail admission. At First Appearance, the judge may leave bond unchanged, increase or reduce it, release the person on recognizance, or impose another authorized release arrangement.
The County lists First Appearance at the Branch Jail at 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8:30 a.m. on weekends and holidays.
Posting bond
Anyone may post bond in cash or use a bondsman. For current bond information, the County directs callers to the Branch Jail Booking Office at 386-254-1555, which is open 24 hours a day.
How long can release take?
After a person becomes eligible for release, jail staff still must complete release paperwork. Volusia County says this process can take approximately two to four hours once processing begins, depending on the circumstances.
The County also states that inmates generally are not released between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. unless a responsible party is on site to transport the person and checks in with Control.
Check charges against Volusia County court records
After finding the correct booking, use the Volusia County Clerk of the Circuit Court to check the criminal case. This is important because a booking charge can differ from the charge ultimately filed, amended or resolved in court.
The Clerk notes that confidential, sealed or expunged cases and documents are excluded from public online access. Some public document images also require review before online release.
Volusia County jail visitation
On-site visitation is conducted at the Video Visitation Building, 1300A Red John Drive, next to the Branch Jail. The County requires appointments and states that visitors should check in 10 minutes before the scheduled session.
Before scheduling
You need the inmate’s six-digit booking number. The County directs visitors to obtain it from the inmate-information search if they do not already have it.
Scheduling window
Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance and by 9 p.m. the day before the requested visit. The County allows scheduling up to two weeks ahead.
Visiting days
On-site sessions are offered Tuesday through Saturday. One visiting session per day is permitted.
Visitor rules worth checking before you go
- Visitors age 18 or older need photo identification showing date of birth.
- Electronic devices such as phones, cameras and tablets are prohibited in the visitation building.
- Up to two people and two small children may visit one inmate at a time.
- Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and need acceptable identification documentation.
- Visitation is restricted during the first 72 hours of incarceration unless approved by the Operations Supervisor.
- The County enforces a dress code and may end visits for prohibited conduct.
Calls, messages, mail and inmate accounts
Jail staff do not connect incoming callers directly to inmates. Volusia County says inmates can communicate through approved calling, messaging, mail and visitation systems, although communications are restricted during the initial 72 hours while classification, court and medical processes are underway.
Phone and messaging
The County identifies IC Solutions for inmate calls and Smart Jail Mail for messaging. Vendor fees and account rules can change, so verify current terms through the Corrections page before paying.
Commissary and trust funds
Inmates may use trust-account funds for commissary and phone time. County materials identify the inmate’s booking information as important when making a deposit.
Warrants, police reports and arrest records
A jail search and a Sheriff’s records request serve different purposes. Volusia County Corrections manages custody information, while the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Records Section handles Sheriff’s Office incident reports, arrest records and related records services.
Use Volusia County Corrections inmate information.
Use the Volusia County Clerk Arrest/Booking Download.
Use the Clerk’s Case Inquiry and criminal records tools.
Use the Volusia Sheriff’s Office public-records process.
The Sheriff’s Office lists its Warrants Unit through Records at 386-736-5962. Do not attempt to detain or confront a person based on warrant information.
The Sheriff’s Office lists Records Section hours as Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays. Record availability can depend on the case status and legal exemptions.
If you cannot find the Daytona or Volusia booking
| Problem | Possible explanation | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No result appears | The booking may be very recent, the person may have been released, or the name may differ from the search used. | Retry the County inmate search, check the recent booking download and call 386-254-1540 if necessary. |
| Same name appears more than once | Two different people may share a similar name. | Compare booking number, booking date, age or date-of-birth details and charges before identifying the person. |
| Booking exists but no current custody result | The person may already have been released or transferred. | Treat the booking as historical and use court records for the case outcome. |
| Charge wording differs from court record | Court filings can amend or replace booking-stage allegations. | Use the Clerk’s docket and case records for later case information. |
| You need a mugshot but find only a court case | Court records and jail booking records are separate systems. | Return to Volusia County inmate information or the official booking-data route. |
Daytona Beach police, Volusia Sheriff and County Corrections are not the same agency
This distinction prevents many search mistakes. The Volusia County Division of Corrections operates the Branch Jail and Correctional Facility. The Volusia Sheriff’s Office handles law-enforcement functions in its jurisdiction and maintains Sheriff-generated records. Daytona Beach also has its own municipal police jurisdiction.
The Sheriff’s Office specifically directs people seeking county mugshots to the Volusia County Corrections public-access system rather than presenting the Sheriff’s site as the jail operator.
Jail fees and court-record copy costs
Volusia County states that inmates are assessed a one-time $30 booking fee and a $5-per-day subsistence fee. The daily fee is waived for inmates who are eligible and choose to work while incarcerated.
For criminal court records, the Clerk lists copies at $1 per page and an additional $2 certification fee when certification is requested. A Clerk-performed name search is listed at $2 per year, per name searched.
