Evansville Mugshots, Recent Bookings and Current Jail Records
For current Evansville arrest and booking information, start with the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office. Its official website provides separate tools for recent bookings, the current inmate population, warrants and recent law-enforcement reports.
A booking photo or arrest entry documents a law-enforcement event; it does not prove guilt. For a criminal case’s current status or final outcome, use Indiana’s court-record system after identifying the correct person and case.
Fastest official route
If you are looking for today’s or other recent Evansville bookings, use the Sheriff’s recent-bookings page first. If you only need to know whether someone is still being held, use the live inmate lookup.
These links go to the official Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office website. Availability and record content can change.
A useful workflow is booking record → identity check → current custody → court case.
How to Find Evansville Mugshots and Recent Bookings
Evansville is in Vanderburgh County, so the county sheriff is the most direct starting point for local jail booking information. The Sheriff’s website separates recent booking records from the live inmate roster, which matters because a person can appear in a recent booking record but later be released.
What Evansville Booking Records Can Show
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s recent-booking system may display a booking photograph along with details such as a person’s name, age, sex, city, booking date, listed charges and bond information. Available fields can differ from one record to another.
| Record field | What it usually tells you | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Booking photo | Photograph associated with a jail booking | Guilt or final case outcome |
| Booking date | When the person was processed into custody | That the person remains jailed today |
| Charge | Allegation or legal basis recorded with the booking | Conviction |
| Bond amount | Bond information recorded for the booking or charge | That release has occurred |
| Current inmate listing | The person is shown on the Sheriff’s live custody list | The final court result |
How to Check Whether Someone Is Still in the Vanderburgh County Jail
The Sheriff’s Office states that its website provides live access to the current jail population. Search the official inmate lookup when current custody is your main question.
If the person appears
The listing indicates that the person is currently shown in the jail’s inmate system. Review the available booking and charge information, then use the court record for legal-case details.
If the person no longer appears
The Sheriff’s FAQ says a person not listed in the inmate lookup is no longer in that jail. That can reflect release or another custody change, so use VINE or contact the jail when a precise custody update is important.
For jail information, the Vanderburgh County Jail is listed at 3500 N. Harlan Ave., Evansville, IN 47711, with the jail receptionist at (812) 421-6200.
Check the Indiana Court Case After Finding a Booking
Jail records and court records serve different purposes. The booking record shows the custody event; the court file is where you should look for public information about case numbers, hearings, filings and dispositions.
Indiana Judicial Branch provides MyCase for public, non-confidential cases handled through the state’s Odyssey system. Public searches are available without charge, although some documents are unavailable online and some cases are confidential, sealed or otherwise excluded from public access.
Search MyCase directly by case number. Indiana also permits searches using citation or cross-reference numbers where applicable.
Search by party name and narrow the match with first name, middle name or date of birth when available.
If a public document is not available online, contact the clerk’s office for the court maintaining the record.
Evansville and Vanderburgh County Warrant Search
The Sheriff’s Office also maintains an online warrant search. It can be searched by name and filtered by date or warrant type.
A warrant search and an inmate search are not interchangeable. A person can have a warrant without being booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail, and an inmate can be held for reasons that are not represented by a single active warrant result.
Bond, Release and Custody Changes
A bond amount on a booking record does not by itself tell you whether the person has been released. The Sheriff recommends checking the live inmate lookup to determine whether someone remains in the jail.
Checking release status
Search the live inmate list. If the person is no longer listed, the Sheriff states that the person is no longer in that jail.
Getting automatic custody alerts
VINE can provide notifications for qualifying custody changes, including release, transfer, escape or death.
The Sheriff provides VINE registration guidance and lists the toll-free number 1-866-959-VINE (1-866-959-8463). The Sheriff notes that a person does not have to be a crime victim to register for eligible notifications.
Vanderburgh County Jail Visitation
The jail uses Combined Public Communications for video visitation. Visitors need a CPC account, which can be created through the jail kiosk or through InmateSales.
Remote visits
The Sheriff lists remote video visitation from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. seven days a week, except during listed meal periods from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and 5:00–6:30 p.m.
On-site visits
On-site video visits are offered on normal business days, excluding county holidays. The Sheriff states that they are free and must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.
Visit limits
The posted rules allow up to three local visits per week. Visitor conduct and clothing rules apply, and visits can be refused or terminated.
Because schedules and provider requirements can change, check the official visitation page before planning a visit.
Commissary, Inmate Money, Mail and Messages
Deposit money
The Sheriff says deposits can be made through the kiosk inside the jail’s main entrance using cash or credit card. The kiosk is listed as available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Online deposits are offered through JailFunds.
Mail restrictions
Do not mail cash, checks or money orders to an inmate. The Sheriff also restricts certain cards, oversized or prohibited materials, newspaper or magazine clippings and other items.
Current inmate mailing address
C/O “Inmate Name”
PO Box 76550
Highland Heights, KY 41076
This mailing address is different from the physical jail address in Evansville. Use the exact mailing format published by the Sheriff and include the inmate’s name as instructed.
The Sheriff also directs users to InmateSales for electronic inmate communications and video visits. For phone-service problems, the Sheriff lists Combined Public Communications at 1-702-829-3001.
Picking Up Inmate Property or Money
The Sheriff publishes separate procedures for releasing inmate property and money. Inmates must approve a request to sign out money, and the office places limits on how often funds may be signed out during an incarceration.
The Sheriff states that keys and money may be signed out at any hour Monday through Sunday. Other property procedures can depend on the item and jail approval, so confirm the current process before traveling to the facility.
How to Request Vanderburgh County Sheriff Records
If the online booking page does not provide the record you need, the Sheriff offers formal public-record request routes for records that qualify for disclosure under Indiana law.
Available request categories include incarceration records, incident reports, criminal history records, accident reports, administrative records and other Sheriff-maintained materials. Different records can have different disclosure restrictions.

Before You Rely on a Mugshot or Arrest Record
- Confirm that the record belongs to the correct person.
- Distinguish the booking date from the current date.
- Check current custody separately from the original booking.
- Read charges as accusations unless a court record shows an adjudicated outcome.
- Use MyCase or the responsible court for the case’s legal status.
- Do not assume that an old photograph reflects a current arrest or custody status.
- Recheck official sources before making decisions based on changing jail or court information.
